Andrew shows an Interest and talent in writing life in Poem and Song. Andrew began his journey writing poetry with his children as the family ventured on road trips across Australia in 2012. When daughter, Amy Ryan showed an interest in singing and playing guitar Andrew did also. They began to write songs together and haven’t stopped since that day some six years ago.
In 2022 Andrew and his daughter Amy Ryan won the Tamworth Songwriters Associations Novice Songwriter of the year – Gary Koehler Award. Andrew has since been a finalist at the Tamworth Country Music Festival 2023. Andrew was a finalist for the Tamworth Songwriters Associations for two of his recent releases, along with winner of New Talent – Brumby Award and also received Heritage Song of the Year from CCMA. Andrew charted at No.1 recently for his song “Beauty in the Bush, released a music video for “In the Warrego”, is a finalist in the ICMA awards for 2023, finalist for the Tasmanian Independent Music Awards 2023 along with releasing his first Album “Blacktown” which is being well received. Continuing on with a new found passion and skill Andrew continues to write his stories.
Life has changed and is very different for Andrew since his daughter began Guitar lessons six years ago. Since Andrew started on this new found love, the three skills of writing poetry, singing and playing guitar have been rewarding.
Writing from personal life experiences, the people met and places seen have influenced Andrew’s writing deeply.
